"Come along Nanami." Natsume said standing at the top of the stairway.
"Do I absolutely have to?" Nanami asked peering around the corner.
"Yes, yes you do." Natsume called back up the stairs as she headed towards her husband who was busy greeting guests at the door.
With one more deep breath Nanami rounded the corner and began walking down the stairs.
'No one's staring at you
. No one's staring at you
. Oh who the heck am I kidding?' She thought looking around. She stumbled a bit and had to catch the railing for support. Though she liked the dress, a violet strapless ball gown that fell to the floor, despite the glitter design that wove around the skirt, it wasn't as bad as it could have been. Her hair had been curled and piled into a bun with her bangs swept to the side. Unfortunately, the dresses length added to the high heels she was wearing made it a difficult to walk.
Roku was waiting for her at the bottom of the stairs, a large smile already in place.
"Don't you say a word." She said as she reached him.
"I was just going to say you look nice." He said with a shrug.
well thank you
.. You look nice too." She said gesturing to his tuxedo.
"Yes, you look wonderful princess. I hope you remembered to practice your curtsies." He said laughing
Her eye twitched time to nip this in the bud NOW. She whipped around grabbed him by the front of his shirt and slammed him against the banister.
"Alright look, I am in a dress, I've got gel in my hair, I'm wearing heels, I'm starved AND I'm armed; Don't mess with me."
Natsume scurried up to them adjusting the large tiara she herself was wearing. "Nanami, I'm glad I found you, are you and Roku ready to dance?"
dance?" Nanami asked.
"Yes, it's traditional that the birthday girl, in this case you, is the first to dance."
"What!? When was this 'tradition' established?!"
"Oh very recently, 4 minutes ago actually. Now that I think of it. Isn't it splendid?"
"Why yes," Roku laughed. "Yes it is."
"Very well them, I'll dance with grandfather." Nanami said standing on her tip toes beginning to search for him."
"Ap ap ap, that'd be cheating dear." Natsume said turning Nanami around and pointing her towards the crowd. "You have to find your own dance partner, think of it as a socializing opportunity."
"Socializing opportunity my-" Nanami mumbled. "Fine." She said more audibly.
Natsume nodded and Roku blinked.
"Ummm I'm sorry but, since when do you not go against her plans?"
"We made a deal." Nanami explained. "I do this ball to her liking, and even if I 'Don't find true love' by the end of it, she'll stop throwing me parties."
"Ahh so, this one is for all the marbles huh?"
"True chiz." She said with a nod. "So how about you, can you dance?"
"Ha you are a laugh princess."
"Come on guys!"
"Hold on Ina!" Kaminari called as he and the rest of the invited Squad 5 members trailed behind her.
Kyoya and Souta followed behind.
"I can't believe you brought this." Kyoya said pulling his Captains Haori over his shoulders.
"It's custom for all attending Captains to wear their haoris to establish their rank." Souta said. "At least, that's what the invitation said." He read over it once again. "Yep. It's there."
The party walked through the large gates of the Shihoin manner, and followed the light crowd to the front doors where an elderly couple, obviously the owners of the household by their clothing and demeanor, greeted them.
"Welcome captain!" The woman said happily and with a bow. Kyoya bowed and smiled. "Welcome, er- all
" She said giving Soutas tuxedo a questioning look.
"Thank you for inviting us." Kyoya said trying to spare his friend.
"Oh no trouble at all." The man said with a firm handshake. "Please, you and your party enjoy yourselves."
Ina slipped her hand between the nook in Souta's arm as they entered. "Weeeeell, you sure look snappy in that suit I bought ya." She said coyly knowing how fabulous she looked in her golden gown. Her hair had been spiked purposefully in a pixie cut and the slightest traces of makeup outlined her lips and brought out her eyes.
"Shut up." He grumbled.
"Kyohei!" Nanami said running up to him. He took a defensive position in front of the door temporarily blocking guests from entering.
"Yes?" He asked suspiciously.
"Ok first, what up with the defensive position?" She said putting her hands on her hips.
"Oh.. right.." He said stepping aside. "Sorry but Captains a bit
. Paranoid about tonight, what will the lack of security and all the people around and he wanted to make sure you didn't run away."
"Uh huh so, are all the hidden squad members scattered around here guarding the exits?"
"Yes." Drazon said walking up behind them. On an impulse he adjusted the tie that went with his suit before he adjusted the haori over his shoulders. "I expected you to try to run away tonight so, I made sure to take extra precautions."
"Hmm, noted." She said giving him a nod. "Anyway, onto my former question, Kyohei can you dance?" She asked hopefully.
"Ummm well, what kind of dance?" He asked cautiously.
"Ballroom, or waltz
.. at this point I'm not picky."
"No, I can't sorry." He said
' She sighed and stopped thinking how Karma loved to screw her over in life. She slowly turned towards Drazon.
"Drazon, do you happen to know how to dance?" She asked, her eye twitching.
"I do happen to have a knowledge of various dance styles but I simply choose not to reveal such a pointless fact about myself."
Nanami face palmed. "Oooooooooooooof course." She muttered. "Well then can you do me a favor and dance with me please? This is really really REALLY important!"
"Absolutely not." He said crossing his arms.
"Pleeeeeeeeeeaaaaaase? Please please please please PLEASE?" She asked repeatedly with her hands clasped together. "Just for like, two minutes and then that's it! And
if you help me out then
. I promise I won't attempt to run away at all tonight! Kyohei's a witness!"
"I'm curious, exactly when is this party going to begin?" Kyoya asked feeling a bit restless. It wasn't just him apparently, as Ina and Kami had both gone off to loot the dessert tables found upstairs.
"Any moment now." Souta promised. He himself was beginning to feel a bit claustrophobic.
All of the guests were lead from the foyer into the oversized ballroom in the Shihoin manner. It consisted of two levels and the floor was made of perfectly polished white marble that matched the thick marble pillars that held up the ceiling. Small balconies jutted out on the second floor overlooking the soon to be dance floor. Glass doors opened up onto 2 more balconies giving a wonderful view into the garden in the back, every tree bush and shrub lit up with lights. Tables with purple table cloths also lined along the windowed walls holding appetizers and other foods for the guests to snack on as the night progressed. A full piece orchestra was situated at the back of the room plucking and tuning for the main party to start.
"I certainly hope so." Kyoya said pulling at the collar of his suit. The sounds of giggling caused him to turn around and face a rather large collection of girls huddled together smiling and whispering to each other looking in his direction.
He gave them half a smile and a slight wave before pulling Souta closer to him. "Get me out of here."
"The party hasn't even begun yet, just be patient." Souta chastened.
The doors flew open once again and the gathered crowd broke into applause as the royal family entered. First was an elderly couple, the same two who had greeted them at the door, who walked in with smiles and waves to their guests.
The next couple to come in made Souta stop to nudge his friend.
"Hey, isn't that the girl you were with earlier?" he asked nodding in his direction.
Kyoya froze watching closely as they walked past. "No
. no it couldn't be."
As much as Drazon loathed crowds and being the center of attention, he at least thought Nanami would. As they walked down the aisle of people, he had at least expected her to smile, maybe wave even. Instead she walked quickly with her head slightly down. Then it dawned on him; she didn't want to be there any more than he did.
Drazon and Nanami stopped in the middle of the empty floor while Natsume and Aikido continued to walk forward towards their prepared thrones for the evening located in the middle of the room on the far wall so they'd be able to watch the festivities.
She froze. Kyoya was standing in the crowd, and he was in a Captains Haori.
'What the heck-'
"Nanami." Drazon muttered without his lips moving. "Take my hand." He said as the conductor tapped his baton on his music stand causing the orchestra to come to attention.
"What?" She asked coming out of her trance.
"Now." He ordered.
"Oh oh right!" She said taking his hand. The orchestra began to play and the two had to keep in step with the music.
Drazon lead the dance attempting to make it look like Nanami knew what she was doing. But honestly, between her looking at her feet and looking deeply into the crowd, it was becoming difficult to keep up with the beat.
Natsume and Aikido soon abandoned their places on their thrones and joined them in dancing opening the floor up to other spectators.
'Just a few more couples
.' Nanami thought as more couples began to dance around them. 'Two
. Three.' "Ok. Thank you." She said pulling away from him on the side.
He blinked and nodded letting her go.
The song came to an end and people began to applaud as another song began.
'That couldn't have been Kyoya I saw.' Nanami thought walking through the crowds searching for him.
'That'd be ludicrous
"Hey, wonderful dancing princess well done." Roku teased.
"Shut it." She growled, a group of girls giggled beside them and Roku looked over at them with a sigh.
Nanami followed his line of vision. "Why don't you just go ask one of them to dance?" She asked attempting not to shudder at the peppiness of the group with their bulky jewelry, bright pink dressed and heavily made up faces.
"You think I should?" He asked hesitant.
"Yea go for it." She encouraged. "But um, if you start acting like them, and get that ridiculous valley girl accent, I will slap you ok?" She said with a pat on his back.
" He walked over to the group, and though their conversation was inaudible the result was made clear as the girls erupted into laughter added with a very subtle "Yea right." Form the head prep.
Nanami glared as she made her way over. "Congrats Roku," She said leaning on his shoulder. "You just set the record for being rejected by the shallow end of the gene pool."
It took the leader of the Barbie clones a moment to realize she'd just been insulted.
"Ok wait, you did not just call me shallow did you?"
Nanami rolled her eyes, "If you mean, do I think I could step in a puddle of you and not get my feet wet? Then yes. "
"Oh Nanami!" Her grandmother called a little ways away. Nanami turned and saw her grandparents standing with another boy around her age. "I'm glad I found you." Natsume said taking her by the arm and half dragging her to where her grandfather and the boy stood. She completely ignored the fact that the girl she'd just left was glaring holes in the back of her head.
"I'm not glad you found me
" Nanami muttered.
"You must dance! This is a ball after all." Natsume chirped happily.
"Weeeeell actually grandmother, I was thinking I'd show up, wave a bit and then loiter by the food table for the rest of the night."
"Nonsense Nanami I insist you dance." Natsume said continuing to pull her forward.
"Nanami, this is Hiro Ito, he's a wonderful young man and I expect you two have a lot in common."
The boy bowed. "Pleased to meet you, would you like to dance?" he asked holding out his hand.
"She'd LOVE to!" Natsume said nudging Nanami forward.
'You can bear it, just one more ball, you can do it.' She thought letting him lead her onto the dance floor.
"Ladies, this is Captain Kyoya Takahashi of squad five." Souta introduced. The girls erupted into giggles causing Kyoya to take a few steps back.
"These girls are nobility." Souta murmured. "Be nice to them." He turned back to the group, who would like to dance first?
The girls surged forward and fought for Kyoyas hand until one girl emerged from the crowd victorious and led him onto the dance floor.
"I'm going to KILL YOU." Kyoya mouthed over the girls shoulder as they began to dance.
Souta merely smiled and gave him the thumbs up as the girls seemed to form a line.
"I WANT A CHANCE AT HIM!" One girl screamed.
The first thing Kyoya noticed as he and the girl began to dance, was that she was nervous, so nervous in fact she offered him a lopsided smile and began to sweat continuously.
'Dead, Murdered, stabbed.' Kyoya thought.
Natsume had lied. Not only did Nanami have nothing in common with this guy, he was B-O-R-I-N-G. His opening statement had been: "The weather has been wonderful lately." Which obviously meant Mother Nature had to prove him wrong. Lightning ripped through the air and it began to pour rain outside. Thus leaving the rest of their dance to awkward looks and silence.
When it finally came time to switch partners, Kyoya breathed a sigh of relief as he wiped the sweat off of his hand.
The new girl skipped up to him, took his hand and began to twitch.
"Are you alright?" He asked.
"WHY OF COURSE!" She shouted before breaking into nervous laughter.
"Oh great. Just checking."
"Yes, the path way my carriage took to get here was most scenic." The new boy said as they began to waltz.
"Oh.. that's great." Nanami deadpanned. This guy was going to be one of those.
"Ahhh so many handsome young noble men." Natsume sighed as she lounged on her throne beside her husband.
"Nanami will find the one she's looking for tonight I'm absolutely sure of it."
"Uh huh, and if she doesn't?" Aikido asked turning towards his wife.
"Then this ball will never end." She said looking at him with wide eyes. The slight spark of insanity in her eyes had been enough to tell him she wasn't joking.
"I don't think we ordered enough food." Roku murmured as he walked by.
The truth was, Natsume was terribly upset, Drazon had failed her secret test. Miserably in fact. And even though he would have been maybe her third or fourth match for her granddaughter, it still annoyed her that she had to mark of yet another captain from her list of possibilities.
At last, Kyoya couldn't take being shouted at anymore and gave Souta the signal to bring another girl forward. How many girls wanted to dance with him!?
A new partner walked up to Kyoya and bowed before roughly pulling him closer as they turned keeping up with the dance.
Although she was notably shorter, Kyoya wasn't prepared when she pulled him to her level and whispered rather wetly into his ear.
"Ships that pass into the night, and whisper sweet nothings in passing."
"Excuse me?" he asked beginning to pull away.
"On the ocean of life." She explained. "IT'S POETRY!" She shouted pulling him closer once again. "Ships that pass in the night; that's you and me!"
"Ooook." Kyoya said gesturing for help. Kami and Ina had returned from their dessert search and had taken to watching his misery from the side of the floor.
With a laugh Kami stepped onto the floor and led the girl away despite her efforts to stay.
"DON'T YOU GET IT?!"
" he said.
"Yes I do enjoy buying new hair care products." Nanami's new partner began.
"I didn't ask you that
" She said.
"Oh I'm sorry what was the question?"
"What's your favorite book?" she said.
"Oh well, I don't very much take pleasure in reading." And from there, all was lost.
'How long is this song?!' Kyoya thought miserable as a new girl approached him. As was custom he put his hand on her waist which caused her to burst out laughing. A shrill annoying laugh. It's pleasure was decreased even further by the loud snort she let rip that echoed throughout the ballroom.
"Did I miss something?" Kyoya asked looking at her concerned.
"Oh no no." she laughed. "You're just a pleasure to be around."
. haven't said anything." He said. She snorted once more. "Why your laughter is
. " He said.
He twirled her and looked up. Nanami was slowly waltzing around the floor seeming to be as miserable as he was. She looked up and gave him a slight smile and a shrug nodding towards her partner.
He nodded as well. He could understand.
"Ahhh finally." Natsume said leaning forward as Nanami got another partner. A handsome boy walked up to her with a smile and bowed.
"And what's so special about this boy?" Aikido asked carefully watching the boy with his granddaughter.
"Oh, he's supposedly a ladies' man. He's got to be the one." She said with a nod.
The two of them watched as he leaned down and whispered something into Nanamis ear. With a gasp of horror she smacked him in the face before marching off of the dance floor.
"Well, I think it's going awfully well." Aikido said with a satisfactory nod. Natsume nudged his shoulder annoyed.
"There you are!" Nanami said when she spotted Kaiya and Ulquiorra by the drink table.
"Hey hun!" Kaiya greeted. "We finally got here!" She laughed. "Sorry it took us so long, we had to set up the stuff." Kaiya explained.
"Oh good so everything's ready?"
"Great! There are guards posted at every door."
"Yea I noticed." Kaiya laughed. "This is gonna be fuuuuuuuuuun." She said with a mischievous smile. "Oh and, mom told me to tell you that she'll meet up with us later and she's got your present. It's from all of us and you'll looooooove it."
"Fantastic! I already told my grandfather I'm outta here by midnight so this is going to work perfect!"
Someone with a deep voice cleared their throat behind her.
'Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww crap!' Nanami thought dreading turning around.
"Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeey look let's go this way!" Kaiya said leading Ulquiorra in the opposite direction.
Nanami turned around to find a glass of punch in her face being held out by Kyoya.
"Umm thanks." She said taking it with a smile.
"Soooooooo you lied to me." He started.
She almost chocked on her punch. "What?!" She asked. "I lied to YOU Mr. Captain!" She said pointing to his haori. "Well excuse me for not immediately jumping into my family's history but may I point out that you didn't exactly jump at the chance to tell me you were a captain, and you really should have beacus-" She began to speak extremely fast causing Kyoya to hold up his hands to stop her.
"Whoa whoa, slow down." He chuckled. "You didn't let me finish. You lied to me when you told me I'd never see you again. And now I run into you here? Such a slap in the face." He joked shaking his head.
heh I did say that didn't I?" She asked. "Well, we're here now!" She said optimistically.
"Excuse me captain." A girl said behind them. They turned to face the girl Nanami has stood up to earlier that evening.
"I believe I was next in line for a dance." She said with a smirk.
"Oh well, I guess you were." Kyoya said resisting the urge to hang his head in exhaustion. "You'll have to excuse me." He said taking her wrist and leading her away.
The girl turned and smirked at Nanami a look that clearly said: I win, you lose.
'Oh oh no she didn't.' Nanami thought complete with a snapping motion of her hand. She was perfectly prepared to go onto the dance floor and slap the fake hair off of the girls head when a few of the mansion guards began running towards the door.
Nanami followed the commotion and saw them surrounding someone in the doorway.
"Hey hey easy!" Aisu said shrugging out of a guards grip. Nanami smiled and began walking towards her friend. Natsume also made her way towards the entrance in a far less cheery mood.
"What is the meaning of this?" Natsume shouted. "We are in the middle of a private function!"
"Oh, I know!" Aisu said with a dripping wet smile. "I was invited." She reached into her breast pocket. "I have my invitation some
" She stopped pulling out a soaking wet purple envelope.
"Guards, put away your swords." Nanami said rushing up to her best friend. She glomped her in a hug not caring if she got wet or not.
"I'm so glad you made it!" Nanami said "But um what happened to you? Don't you have an umbrella?"
"Actually, I lost my umbrella in the storm." Aisu said. "This." She gestured to the rest of her soaking wet body "Was from falling in your koi fish pond outside. Yea that was NOT. PLEASANT."
Nanami laughed and grabbed Aisus arm turning to lead her towards the stairs. She was stopped by a wall of guards.
"Wha- Would you guys juts- just go somewhere!?" She ordered. "Come on Aisu, we can dry you off and then get back to the party."
"Oh, silly me." Natsume said blocking their way. "We don't have enough room."
"What?" The two girls asked at the same time.
"Yes, we didn't know if you were coming or not so, we under booked and
"Oh.. Well, If it's a problem." Aisu began.
"It's not a problem." Nanami said peeved and pulling her grandmother to the side. "You have enough room and food in there to feed an army and you know it!" She hissed. "Now if you don't let her stay, I'm going up to the roof and I' not coming down until Christmas!"
"Ugh fine alright!" Natsume said crossing her arms.
"I miscalculated welcome to our home." She said with a smile.
Aisu bowed. "Thank you."
"Hellooooooo earth to chica
." Aisu said waving her hand in front of Nanami's face.
Nanami continued to glare unphased at the dance floor. Kyoya and the snob were still waltzing the night away. And they had been. For 3 songs.
Without knowing, Nanami began to growl finally crushing the glass in her hand sending punch everywhere.
I'm sorry Aisu.. I'm not being a very good friend here
Aisu laughed. "Ha! Are you kidding? This is funny here." She said handing her another glass. "Break something else. what's the matter anyway?"
Nanami laughed and set down the glass. "No, one mess is good enough. And it's nothing
. " She trailed off as Kyoya and the girl danced their way towards the glass doors leading out onto a balcony overlooking the garden.
"Ok, THATS IT!" She said. "All bets are off!" She growled beginning to stalk towards the doors. "I'll be damned if I have them overlooking a beautiful garden with a freshly cleared sky and a full moon shining down on them."
"Whoa whoa whoa chica calm down!" Aisu said trying to pull her back. "What's the matter?"
"That whores mackin on my man that's what!" Nanami stopped. "Uhh I mean he's not my man, I met him today and it's a really long story
" Nanami sighed.
ooooooooooooh."Aisu said nodding her head. "You want me to
take care of her?" She asked
with a mischievous smile.
"Ummmmm If I say yes will you kill her?"
"Probably." Aisu answered bluntly and with a shrug.
"Hehe Ok, give me a minute." She said before she vanished.
Kyoya tried to breathe, he tried think about other things, even mentally do the stack of paperwork waiting for him on his office desk, ANYTHING to make this girls continuous talking cease. They danced until they were outside and the music had stopped. At least with the prattle of the crowds gone he was slightly able to think.
And yet, she continued talking.
"My daddy bought me this" or "My daddy owns that" or the ever present: "Are you even listening to me?" At times he was tempted to shout "NO! NO I'M NOT!" But he controlled himself. He looked up at the bright full moon.
'Please!' He thought desperate not sure exactly who it was he was praying to. 'Please just make it stop! I'll do anything! Anything!'
Suddenly the area around him was silent. He opened his eyes and looked around. He was all alone on the balcony.
"Ok, she's gone and he's standing, albeit very confused on the balcony." Aisu reported with a large smile.
Nanami sat down her drink and looked curiously on at her friend. "What
did you do?"
Aisu gave her a smirk. "Do you really wanna know?"
Nanami thought about it for a moment. "
.Nope!" She said walking towards the balcony.
"NO please no more talking!" Kyoya shouted whipping around. "Oh..." he said when he saw Nanami. "Oh I'm sorry I thought you were" He stopped to clear his throat. "Someone else
Nanami laughed and held out her hand. "Would you like to dance?" She asked.
"Remember when I said I couldn't dace to save my life?" He asked. "Well, that's been proven plenty throughout tonight."
"Well then I'll just have to teach you." She said as he took her hand.
Hesitantly, he followed her back inside. "Well, alright
But I have to warn you I may step on your feet
"HA! Honey, in these shoes, I lost feeling in my feet about 3 hours ago."
"Who is that boy Nanami's dancing with?" Natsume asked nudging her husband out of the mini nap he was about to take. He sat up and looked closer.
"Does it matter? He's wearing a haori." He pointed out.
"Well yea you're right. But he is handsome isn't he?" She asked with a sigh. "Why if I were young I'd-"
"You'd what? Aikido asked crossing his arms at his wife."
"Well, I'd be younger wouldn't I?" She laughed.
Aikido took his wife's hand. "Yes dear."
"Finally SOMEONE'S passed my test." She said relaxed. "And I definitely approve!"
"See this isn't so bad." Nanami laughed.
"Well, considering all of the other girls I've had to dance with had a disorder of some sort, you are by far the best partner I've had."
"May I cut in?" Souta asked.
"Keep dreaming." Kyoya said not hesitating. They danced until they were back out on the balcony neither of them seeming to mind the lack of music.
Nanamis cellphone began to buzz in her pocket signaling it was midnight.
"Aww not now
" She groaned.
"What's wrong?" He asked.
"I have to go
again." She said. "Oh come on again? On the same day?" He asked.
"I know I know, I'm horrible." She said beginning to pull out of his embrace. "I promised some friends I'd meet them tonight and, I have a planed exit route."
I see." He said.
"But hey, it's not like you don't know where I live right?"She asked with a grin. Gave him a hug before heading inside.
"You can come see my great escape if you like." She offered.
"Sure." He said wondering exactly what she meant by Great escape.
Drazon had no choice but to accept the good fortune of the night. Nanami hadn't even made a dash for the door. In fact, He'd been able to keep an eye on her easily as she danced around.
'Not a bad night.' He thought. He saw a movement that was quicker than the rest. The girl that had arrived later than the others, and had caused quite the disturbance in doing so, was rushing towards the foyer.
On an impulse, he began to follow her keeping his eye on her as he made his way through the center of the dance floor, He'd just seen her round the corner when A large wardrobe like box was slammed down in front of him, causing an abrupt halt in the dance.
Ulquiorra flipped off of the top of the box with ease and stood to address the crowd, In his all white tuxedo, white masquerade mask complete with teal designs, black hair and pale white skin, he was a sight to behold. Kaiya soon joined him wearing a teal floor length gown with her hair pulled into an elaborate bun and long elbow length gloves to match her dress, they looked like nothing like than magic professionals.
"What's going on? I didn't schedule any parlor tricks this evening
" Natsume muttered.
"Your higness," Ulquiorra spoke. "As a present to the birthday girl and to all your guests, we'd like to present you with a magnificent magic trick. He turned to the crowd. "No Shunpo techniques will be used during this trick. Watch and behold!"
"We'll need a volunteer from the audience." Kaiya said looking over the crowd.
"I'll do it!" Nanami said happily stepping forward.
"Ahh the birthday girl! Brilliant!" Kaiya said with a grin.
"If you'd be kind enough to get in the box." Ulquiorra said holding open the door. She stepped inside and he closed the door, locked it, and wrapped the entire thing in chains.
"A normal cabinet." Ulquiorra began. "My assistant and I will now run it through with these swords." He said wheeling around a cart stacked high with swords. "And I can guarantee you all that the person within will emerged completely unharmed. This is no mere trick or illusion. Prepare for a performance of true magic."
The two then proceeded to roughly run the cabinet through with swords causing mixed reactions from the gathered crowd. Some screamed in fear, others fainted; one unfortunate man even had to hold back the urge to vomit.
Drazon began to clench and unclench his fists. Something wasn't right.
With final sword embedded, Ulquiorra and Kaiaya took a step back. "Ready everyone?" he asked raising up his fist.
"AbraaaaaaaaaaaaaaaacaDABRA!" He shouted. He threw down something small causing a large cloud of black smoke to swirl around and engulf him completely. When the smoke cleared, he was gone.
The crowd gasped in shock as the box began to shake to and fro violently.
Kaiya calmly unwrapped the chain and threw open the doors unleashing a flock of black ravens over the crowd. They circled around for a bit before flying out the already opened doors.
Ulqiourra stepped out of the box met with cheers from the crowed. He and Kaiya both took a bow.
Quickly, Drazon inspected the box. Nanami was gone.
"Where is she?" He asked Kaiya.
"A magician never reveals his secrets you silly nub." Kaiya smiled.
Drazon glared at her. He turned and began running towards the foyer. If Aisu had gone that way then maybe
He entered the foyer and looked up the stairwell, just the slightest bit of purple rounded the corner before it vanished.
He ran up the stairs and arrived at the top just in time to see a doorway to the world of the living gently slide closed.
